Lê Tuyet kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Viet Tri's zone, Phạm Quang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. La Thuyet came out of the goal and Phạm Quang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 40 minutes into the match, Viet Tri's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Mai came free, but La Thuyet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Mai made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Huy notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Can Tho's Phan Cuc. Phan Cuc was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 56 minutes, Nguyễn Mai took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for La Thuyet to make any attempt to save it. Viet Tri's La Thuyet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Viet Tri from getting a goal against them. Can Tho's Phạm Quang got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Đặng Dinh in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Phan Cuc saved Can Tho from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Đặng Dinh in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Phan Cuc prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Phùng Tran charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phùng Tran the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 72nd minute, Phùng Tran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Can Tho's Lê Diem got a free kick in the 74th minute. Can Tho's Phạm Quang got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. La Thuyet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Mai in the 80th minute of the match. When Phạm Quang got free in front of the goal in the 81st minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. La Thuyet was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Phạm Quang might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over La Thuyet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Phạm Quang ran back to his position shaking his head. Nguyễn Huy hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. If Nguyễn Mai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Viet Tri getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Lê Tuyet hit a great ball. The Can Tho supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Can Tho would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
