To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Mai took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lê Hong Minh. In the 37thth minute of the game Nguyễn Viet who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Can Tho's Phan Cuc was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Can Tho's goalkeeper Phan Cuc had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nguyễn Viet. After some careless play in the Can Tho defense, Lê Cuc kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phan Cuc.
