The referee ignored VuStorm's protests and gave Nguyễn Van Tai Em a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20thth minute of the game Ngô Phuc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VuStorm's Nguyễn Hanh was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Phan Thi Ngoc managed to get in a good position for a shot. VuStorm's supporters rose to their feet, but Phan Thi Ngoc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Võ Chi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, VuStorm's Nguyễn Bay got a free kick in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute of the match Trần Hoa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nguyễn Hanh skillfully saved the ball. Phạm Tho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Võ Chi having to interfere. Ngô Phuc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 48 minutes of play, Da Lat's Hoàng Cong Vinh made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nguyễn Hanh was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ngô Phuc to make the kick off. Nguyễn Hanh was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Lưu Loc.
