The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Hoang got free with Phan Cuc in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 3rd minute, Phùng Tran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Nguyễn Hoang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phạm Quang struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Nguyễn Bien didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Can Tho. Nguyễn Mai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phan Cuc made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Nguyễn Hoang sent off a good shot on target. After 13 played minutes Can Tho got a freekick which was hit by Phùng Tran. In the 14th minute, Nguyễn Hoang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 16th match minute, Can Tho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phùng Tran to maneuver through the defense. Phan Cuc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Lien, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Bien made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phạm Quang in the 20th minute of play. Nguyễn Bien made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Mai in the 23rd minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Nguyễn Mai made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Bien. Dong Hung's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Phan Cuc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Hoang, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Dong Hung's Nguyễn Hoang got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Can Tho getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Phùng Tran hit a great ball. Lưu Cuc's late challenge caught a Can Tho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lưu Cuc helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st match minute, Dong Hung was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lưu Cuc to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the game, Lê Diem was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Can Tho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dong Hung the free kick. After 45 played minutes Can Tho got a freekick which was hit by Lê Diem. Phan Cuc didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nguyễn Hoang went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Mai stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Phạm Quang left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Can Tho fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After having played for 59 minutes, Nguyễn Mai managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Can Tho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Mai was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Can Tho's supporters rose to their feet, but Phạm Quang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Bien breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Lien sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phạm Quang in the 72nd minute of play forced Dong Hung's goalkeeper Nguyễn Bien to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Can Tho's Lê Ho tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Can Tho defense, Nguyễn Lien kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Phan Cuc. The Can Tho fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Phan Cuc should have stopped the shot. An unexpected shot in the 85th minute by Phạm Quang got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Nguyễn Bay fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Can Tho's protests and gave Nguyễn Bay a yellow card for diving instead. After 86 played minutes Can Tho got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Bay. Nguyễn Bien took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Mai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Dong Hung's Nguyễn Thi got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dong Hung's zone, Nguyễn Mai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Bien came out of the goal and Nguyễn Mai tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
