Nguyễn Van Quyen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Hieu having to interfere. The supporters of Nam Dinh booed when Mui Ne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Van Quyen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 8 minutes of play, Nam Dinh's Trần Duc made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tôn Chi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mui Ne's Tôn Chi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đinh Van Quyen in the 12th minute of play. Tôn Chi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Duc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Hieu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nguyễn Hung showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 15 minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Hồ Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mui Ne's supporters rose to their feet, but Hồ Thanh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Hieu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hồ Thanh might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Hieu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hồ Thanh ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 27th match minute, Mui Ne was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Van Quyen to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Mui Ne getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Nguyễn Van Quyen hit a great ball. In the 38th minute, Đinh Van Quyen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nam Dinh fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After having played for 42 minutes, Nguyễn Tan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mui Ne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Tan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Hồ Thanh came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Mui Ne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hồ Thanh couldn't finish the play.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hồ Thanh to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Hồ Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mui Ne's supporters rose to their feet, but Hồ Thanh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Hieu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the match, Nam Dinh's goal looked a bit too open when Hồ Thanh came free, but Nguyễn Hieu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mui Ne's defense didn't have a chance, in the 68th minute, when Huỳnh Khoi scored to the left of an out of position Tôn Chi, making the score, 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hồ Thanh in the 76th minute of play forced Nam Dinh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hieu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Dung's late challenge caught a Mui Ne's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trần Dung helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Nam Dinh's Trần Dung got a free kick in the 77th minute. Trần Dung took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Hieu. Nguyễn Hieu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Hồ Thanh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Dung got free with Tôn Chi in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 87 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Hieu Ngan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mui Ne's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nam Dinh the free kick. Nguyễn Hieu Ngan hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute, Trần Duc ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tôn Chi was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4.
