Lê Duc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Minh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Nguyễn Minh came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the My Tho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Minh couldn't finish the play. If Hoàng Mai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 22 minutes, Lê Duc made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Quang Ngai's Trần Viet tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Lê Duc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Viet having to interfere. If Nguyễn Minh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Duc in the 42nd minute of play forced Quang Ngai's goalkeeper Trần Viet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to My Tho getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Hoàng Phuc hit a great ball.

Nguyễn Minh was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 73rd minute. My Tho's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Trần Viet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. When the match clock showed 77 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Hoàng Mai sped through My Tho's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lê Thanh Bình. After a rather tough play, Quang Ngai's Nguyễn Hung got a free kick in the 80th minute. My Tho's Lê Duc got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Trần Viet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Minh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 87 played minutes Quang Ngai got a freekick which was hit by Phan Ritchell. Lê Thanh Bình took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Huỳnh Quang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lê Thanh Bình stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Huỳnh Quang's shot from short distance in the 91st minute. After having played for 93 minutes, Hoàng Mai managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quang Ngai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hoàng Mai was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Huỳnh Quang in the 96th minute of play forced My Tho's goalkeeper Lê Thanh Bình to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the My Tho players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Quang Ngai.
