The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Trần Tinh during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 56th minute, Trịnh Van Quyen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Nghiêm-Minh in the 60th minute of play forced Việt Nam's goalkeeper Đặng Liem to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. PSG's Trịnh Van Quyen got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 90th minute Nghiêm Tu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Lan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Trần Nghiêm-Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đặng Liem having to interfere. Trịnh Van Quyen might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Đặng Liem. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Trịnh Van Quyen ran back to his position shaking his head. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
