Lê Thanh Bình took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Van Tai Em, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Trần Van Tai Em spun around in front of the goal 13 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of My Tho's goal. In the 16thth minute of the game Đỗ Cuc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but My Tho's Lê Thanh Bình was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nguyễn Dong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. If Trần Van Tai Em had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lê Thanh Bình came out of the goal and Đỗ Cuc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the game, Mai Teo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Lê Thanh Bình was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Minh made a kick off. In the 56th minute, Nguyễn Minh made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Dong. Da Lat's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Trần Van Tai Em sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Da Lat's Trần Van Tai Em got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Dong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Minh in the 73rd minute of play. Lê Duc's late challenge caught a Da Lat's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lê Duc helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th match minute, My Tho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lê Duc to maneuver through the defense. Da Lat's Trần Tan couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 75th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for My Tho. 80 minutes into the game, Hoàng Nguyet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. My Tho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Da Lat the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hoàng Phuc in the 92nd minute of play forced Da Lat's goalkeeper Nguyễn Dong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Da Lat's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
