Triệu Nguyet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Phạm Tinh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 9th minute, Huỳnh Teo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 19thth minute of the game Huỳnh Duc who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cao Lanh's Lê Thi Ngoc was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nguyễn Phuoc struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Lê Thi Ngoc didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saka. Saka's Huỳnh Duc got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lê Thi Ngoc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Huỳnh Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Phuoc in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lê Thi Ngoc saved Cao Lanh from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Triệu Nguyet in the 40th minute of play forced Saka's goalkeeper Phạm Tinh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Saka fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Saka's Huỳnh Duc looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After the first half Saka were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
If Triệu Nguyet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 57 minutes, Bùi Thi Ngoc mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cao Lanh and the Saka players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Cao Lanh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bùi Thi Ngoc to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Đặng Nam managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saka's supporters rose to their feet, but Đặng Nam was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Thi Ngoc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Saka booed when Cao Lanh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Diem didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute Phạm Minh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phạm Tinh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nguyễn Phuoc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
