Nguyễn Loc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Trần Viet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hoàng Mai in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Phan Nam saved Ha Tay from getting behind. In the 37th minute of the match Trần Phu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Phan Nam showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Phạm Lan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Viet having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Phạm Lan made a precise shot to the right of Trần Viet. Quang Ngai's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. Phan Nam took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Huỳnh Quang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Loc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The wind increased when Hoàng Mai made the kick off in the second half. Trần Viet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phạm Lan, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Ha Tay's goal looked a bit too open when Hoàng Mai came free, but Phan Nam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nguyễn Thuyet during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Ha Tay booed when Quang Ngai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Phu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ha Tay's Nguyễn Dong suffered a sore thigh after 67 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 67 minutes of play Quang Ngai's Nguyễn Hung was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 68th match minute, Quang Ngai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Hung to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 69 minutes, Phạm Lan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ha Tay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phạm Lan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Trần Viet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phạm Lan in the 72nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Quang Ngai's Phan Ritchell got a free kick in the 76th minute. Phan Nam made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Huỳnh Quang sent off a good shot on target. Phan Ritchell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Huỳnh Quang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Phan Nam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Ha Tay's Phan Nam got control of the ball when Huỳnh Quang tried to sneak it across the goal line. Quang Ngai's Hoàng Mai got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Quang Ngai's supporters rose to their feet, but Huỳnh Quang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Phan Nam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ha Tay fans cheered their team off the field, for while Quang Ngai had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
