Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Lao Cai's Huỳnh Viet started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the game, Mai Hoai was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sam Son b's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lao Cai the free kick. Mai Hoai hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. If Huỳnh Viet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huỳnh Viet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Chung's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 14thth minute, Nguyễn Duc skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After a defensive mix-up in Lao Cai's zone, La Diem stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Thuyet came out of the goal and La Diem tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Hoàng Duy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Nhật Minh's late challenge caught a Sam Son b's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Nhật Minh helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Sam Son b booed when Lao Cai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Nhật Minh didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nguyễn Quang Thanh took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nguyễn Duc. Sam Son b's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Nguyễn Thuyet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from La Diem in the 23rd minute of play. Hoàng Duy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Nguyễn Thuyet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Thuyet stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hoàng Duy's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 37 minutes into the game, Hoàng Duy cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Nguyễn Thuyet was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hoàng Duy scored 0-3 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nguyễn Thuyet, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 47 minutes, Hoàng Nghiêm-Minh mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sam Son b and the Lao Cai players grew even worse after the yellow card. After the first half Sam Son b were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Hoàng Duy made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes Lao Cai got a freekick which was hit by Trần Viet. La Diem could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Nguyễn Thuyet made a huge save. Nguyễn Duc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huỳnh Viet in the 62nd minute of play. Nguyễn Thuyet made an important save on a dangerous shot by La Diem in the 63rd minute. In the 67thth minute of the game Huỳnh Viet who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sam Son b's Nguyễn Duc was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nguyễn Duc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Huỳnh Viet, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. If Huỳnh Viet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Huỳnh Viet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Nguyễn Duc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Huỳnh Viet in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Duc prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 76 minutes into the match, Lao Cai's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuyet had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by La Diem. 78 minutes into the match, Lao Cai's goal looked a bit too open when Hoàng Duy came free, but Nguyễn Thuyet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Chung fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Duc having to interfere. After having played for 83 minutes, Nguyễn Chung managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lao Cai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Chung was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When La Diem came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Sam Son b fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that La Diem couldn't finish the play. Lao Cai's Nguyễn Chung got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 1-3 became the score in the 89th minute when Nguyễn Chung elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After 92 minutes, Trần Thi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lao Cai and the Sam Son b players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Lao Cai's Trần Thi got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Lao Cai's zone, La Diem stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Thuyet came out of the goal and La Diem tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hoàng Duy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Thuyet having to interfere. The Sam Son b players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
