A very good chance. When Hoàng Nhật Minh came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Qui Nhon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hoàng Nhật Minh couldn't finish the play. Hoàng Nhật Minh might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Binh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hoàng Nhật Minh ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 23rd match minute, Cam Ranh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Tuan to maneuver through the defense. Hoàng Chi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Thien, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Pham kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Đinh Diem hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th match minute, Cam Ranh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Chi to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Pham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nguyễn Thien had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hoàng Nhật Minhs short, quick shot in the 43rdth minute got Nguyễn Binh to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Nguyễn Pham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Pham made a kick off. Nguyễn Binh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hoàng Nhật Minh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Tuan struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Hoàng Chi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cam Ranh. When Nguyễn Thien came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Cam Ranh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Thien couldn't finish the play. Nguyễn Pham's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Binh read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Cam Ranh's Nguyễn Thien got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Hoàng Chi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Thien sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Tuan in the 72nd minute of play forced Qui Nhon's goalkeeper Hoàng Chi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Qui Nhon getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Đinh Diem hit a great ball. Nguyễn Thien recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Qui Nhon's Hoàng Nhật Minh got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 84 minutes, Nguyễn Pham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Qui Nhon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Pham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Trần Bien was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 95 minutes into the match. After 95 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Qui Nhon! The goalkeeper, Hoàng Chi, was totally fooled by Cam Ranh's Nguyễn Minh, who 98 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The Cam Ranh supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cam Ranh would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
