An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Pham in the 5th minute of play forced Hung Yen's goalkeeper Lương Nghiêm-Minh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 9th match minute, Qui Nhon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Thuy to maneuver through the defense. The referee ignored Hung Yen's protests and gave Nguyễn Hieu Ngan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Qui Nhon booed when Hung Yen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Hieu Ngan didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Hung Yen's Hoàng Chi threw himself towards the right post 33 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Phạm Thien, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee gave Nguyễn Pham a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. But to his dismay, Phạm Thien quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Lê Tan hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 64th minute, Phạm Pham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 69 minutes into the game, Hung Yen's Phạm Pham nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Hoàng Chi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Phạm Thien fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hoàng Chi having to interfere. Phạm Thien sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 84 minutes into the match, Hung Yen's Phạm Thien sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hoàng Chi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hoàng Nhật Minh kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Hoàng Chi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phạm Pham, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Phạm Pham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 95 minutes into the match, Qui Nhon's goal looked a bit too open when Phạm Thien came free, but Hoàng Chi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hung Yen's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
