Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Đặng Van Tai Em started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute, Phạm Thien reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nguyễn Duc. The goal made the score 1-0. With a little luck, Ho Chi Minh's Nguyễn Duc got control of the ball when Phạm Pham tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 16th minute, Nguyễn Hong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Phạm Pham got free with Nguyễn Duc in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 26 minutes into the match, Phạm Pham had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Duc. Ho Chi Minh's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Phạm Pham was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. If Nguyễn Minh-ha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lương Nghiêm-Minh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Minh-ha, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Nguyễn Minh-ha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lương Nghiêm-Minh having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Phạm Thien stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Ho Chi Minh's Phan Viet got a free kick in the 56th minute. Nguyễn Duc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phạm Thien in the 57th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Phạm Thien in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Duc saved Ho Chi Minh from getting behind. A collision led to Ho Chi Minh getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Phan Viet hit a great ball. Ho Chi Minh's Nguyễn Duc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phạm Thien in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st minute Đặng Van Tai Em shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lương Nghiêm-Minh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lương Nghiêm-Minh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Van Tai Em, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Duc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phạm Thien, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Tôn Minh's late challenge caught a Hung Yen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tôn Minh helped the player get up and apologised. In the 74th match minute, Ho Chi Minh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tôn Minh to maneuver through the defense. Phạm Thien recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Ho Chi Minh getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Phạm Thi hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Hung Yen's Lý Hanh got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Lương Nghiêm-Minh was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Nguyễn Hong. After a rather tough play, Hung Yen's Nguyễn Duong got a free kick in the 85th minute. Ho Chi Minh's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
