Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Đào Thien started the match with the kick off. Trần Phu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Lien in the 3rd minute. Dương Van Tai Em fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Anh Hung having to interfere. Trần Minh Phượng's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Anh Hung read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Garu FC's Trần Phu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Garu FC from getting a goal against them. Nguyễn Anh Hung took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Minh Phượng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dương Van Tai Em sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Nguyễn Lien made a precise shot to the right of Trần Phu. Garu FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After 28 played minutes TPHCM got a freekick which was hit by Trần Hoa. Dương Van Tai Em struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Nguyễn Anh Hung didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Garu FC. Nguyễn Lien might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Trần Phu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nguyễn Lien ran back to his position shaking his head. Dương Van Tai Em fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Anh Hung having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trần Minh Phượng stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Nguyễn Anh Hung made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Minh Phượng in the 52nd minute of play. Nguyễn Lien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Trần Phu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 55 minutes into the game, Trần Minh Phượng recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nguyễn Anh Hung. Trần Minh Phượng showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Trần Minh Phượng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Nguyễn Anh Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Garu FC's goalkeeper Trần Phu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Trần Phu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Lien in the 73rd minute of play. Nguyễn Minh charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Minh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 74th minute, Nguyễn Minh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Phạm Hoang shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Nguyễn Anh Hung didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dương Van Tai Em went, in the 85th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Đào Thien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Trần Phu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 98th play minute Dương Van Tai Em came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nguyễn Anh Hung. 2-3. Garu FC played a much better game than TPHCM and deserved their victory. The TPHCM players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
