Seating: 1700, VIP seats: 159) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nguyễn Thai started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes TPHCM got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Xuan. After 4 minutes, Nguyễn Anh Hung mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the TPHCM and the Dong Nai players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Dong Nai booed when TPHCM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Anh Hung didn't get a good kick on the ball. Huỳnh Binh blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nguyễn Anh Hung having to make a save. 7 minutes into the match, TPHCM's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Thai came free, but Nguyễn Anh Hung reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nguyễn Phuoc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đào Thien, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Huỳnh Binh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Anh Hung having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Dong Nai's Nguyễn Viet got a free kick in the 10th minute. TPHCM's defense didn't have a chance, in the 16th minute, when Trần Phu scored to the left of an out of position Nguyễn Anh Hung, making the score, 1-0. Nguyễn Thai came free with the goalkeeper in the 19th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nguyễn Anh Hung could save by the left post. If Đào Thien had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Thai got free with Nguyễn Anh Hung in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nguyễn Anh Hung made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Huỳnh Binh sent off a good shot on target. Nguyễn Viet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Anh Hung having to interfere. Trần Phu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Anh Hung read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Nguyễn Viet managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dong Nai's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Viet was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Anh Hung breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. During the 38th minute of the match Nguyễn Viet completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nguyễn Viet a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Nguyễn Viet kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Đào Thien in the 41st minute of play forced Dong Nai's goalkeeper Nguyễn Phuoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When TPHCM's Đào Thien in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dong Nai's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Đào Thien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Nguyễn Phuoc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 54 minutes into the match, Dong Nai's goal looked a bit too open when Đào Thien came free, but Nguyễn Phuoc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Đào Thien in the 56th minute of play forced Dong Nai's goalkeeper Nguyễn Phuoc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Phuoc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Lien in the 60th minute. Dong Nai's Nguyễn Dung was substituted for Lê Thanh. Nguyễn Anh Hung showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Phu, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Dong Nai made a substitution. Nguyễn Lam replaced Huỳnh Binh. TPHCM's Nguyễn Anh Hung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Lam in the 89th minute of play. Nguyễn Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Anh Hung having to interfere. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
