Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nguyễn Hoang kicked off to start the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Thai in the 3rd minute of play forced Viet Tri's goalkeeper Phùng Bay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Huỳnh Binh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phùng Bay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Phu, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Nguyễn Viet recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Hoang got free with Nguyễn Phuoc in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Dong Nai's zone, Nguyễn Hoang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Phuoc came out of the goal and Nguyễn Hoang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Phùng Bay made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Nguyễn Phuoc made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lưu Hoang in the 34th minute of play. Phùng Bay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Huỳnh Binh in the 36th minute of the match. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Viet struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Phùng Bay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dong Nai. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The referee showed Trần Nam the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dong Nai's Huỳnh Binh got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dong Nai played a much better game than Viet Tri and deserved their victory. The Viet Tri players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
