Văn Tấn Dũng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vũ Tran in the 29th minute of play forced Phu Tho's goalkeeper Đinh Lam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 34 minutes into the game, Đặng Phuc was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tuy Hoa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phu Tho the free kick. Nguyễn Thuyet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tôn Thai in the 40th minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Vũ Tran fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Lê Duc kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After the first half Phu Tho were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tôn Thai to make the kick off. Phu Tho's Đặng Hung got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tôn Thai in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Thuyet saved Tuy Hoa from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Mai Chung managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tuy Hoa's supporters rose to their feet, but Mai Chung was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Đinh Lam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Thuyet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tôn Thai in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 64th minute, one of Tuy Hoa:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Tuy Hoa. Nguyễn Thuyet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tôn Thai in the 69th minute of the match. Mai Chung kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Phu Tho's Tôn Thai got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tôn Thai in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Thuyet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Hoàng Huỳnh fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tuy Hoa's protests and gave Hoàng Huỳnh a yellow card for diving instead. In the 86th minute, Hoàng Huỳnh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Tôn Thai kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nguyễn Thuyet. That made the score 0-3 in the 88 minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Tuy Hoa's goal looked a bit too open when Tôn Thai came free, but Nguyễn Thuyet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Đặng Hung had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tôn Thai sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
