Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dong Hoi's Phạm Pham started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nguyễn Tuan hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Hoàng Thanh made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phạm Thi Ngoc in the 5th minute of play. After some careless play in the Nha Trang defense, Phạm Pham kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hoàng Thanh. The Nha Trang fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hoàng Thanh should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Dong Hoi's Nguyễn Lam got a free kick in the 9th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Phạm Pham in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hoàng Thanh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phạm Cuc in the 20th minute of play forced Nha Trang's goalkeeper Hoàng Thanh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 20 played minutes Nha Trang got a freekick which was hit by Phạm Tuan Hoang. Nguyễn Lien in the 22ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tạ Phuong, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 25 minutes into the game, Phạm Pham cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Hoàng Thanh was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Phạm Pham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hoàng Thanh having to interfere. Phạm Thi Ngoc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nha Trang's goalkeeper Hoàng Thanh, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nha Trang's Hoàng Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phạm Pham in the 40th minute of play. When Phạm Thi Ngoc came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Dong Hoi fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phạm Thi Ngoc couldn't finish the play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Huỳnh Tấn Dũng to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Huỳnh Tấn Dũng in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tạ Phuong saved Dong Hoi from getting behind. Thanks to some nice moves Phạm Thi Ngoc could shoot a difficult shot in the 55th minute, which Hoàng Thanh however easily saved by the left post. In the 56th minute, Phạm Pham got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 59 minutes into the match, Dong Hoi's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Lien came free, but Tạ Phuong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Phạm Tuan kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Phạm Thi Ngoc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dong Hoi's Tạ Phuong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Huỳnh Tấn Dũng in the 72nd minute of play. If Phạm Thi Ngoc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Nha Trang's zone, Phạm Pham stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hoàng Thanh came out of the goal and Phạm Pham tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Lien struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Tạ Phuong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nha Trang.
