Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Phu Tho's Tôn Thai started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Trần Hung hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Phu Tho's zone, Nguyễn Lien stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Đinh Lam came out of the goal and Nguyễn Lien tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Phu Tho getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Trịnh Chuong hit a great ball. Đặng Hung who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 15thth minute tested the skills of Hoàng Thanh when he managed to save the team from getting behind. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Đinh Lam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Lien, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After 26 minutes, Huỳnh Tấn Dũng made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Phu Tho's Đinh Lam tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Nha Trang's zone, Đặng Hung stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hoàng Thanh came out of the goal and Đặng Hung tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tôn Thai took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hoàng Thanh. Hoàng Thanh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đinh Lam having to interfere. Đinh Lam made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Huỳnh Tấn Dũng in the 46th minute of play. Nguyễn Tuan's late challenge caught a Phu Tho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Tuan helped the player get up and apologised. Nguyễn Tuan hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. After 50 played minutes, Phu Tho's Trịnh Chuong shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Hoàng Thanh came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Phu Tho reached it. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Huỳnh Tấn Dũng to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Nha Trang's Huỳnh Tấn Dũng sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Đinh Lam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hoàng Thanh took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Hung, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nguyễn Dinh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đinh Lam having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Nguyễn Lien kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Đinh Lam. That made the score 1-2 in the 65 minute of play. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Đinh Lam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Lien in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Đinh Lam, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 83rd minute, Trần Hong got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Phu Tho's Trịnh Chuong got a free kick in the 90th minute. Hoàng Thanh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Đặng Hung, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Nha Trang's Hoàng Thanh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đặng Hung in the 99th minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Nha Trang had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
