Dương Phuoc kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. A collision led to Lai Chau getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Trần Hoa hit a great ball. Nguyễn Loc might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ngô Tu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nguyễn Loc ran back to his position shaking his head. Ngô Tu made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Trần Duc sent off a good shot on target. 13 minutes into the match, Lai Chau's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Loc came free, but Ngô Tu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Cao Bang booed when Lai Chau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Huỳnh Dong didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute, Nguyễn Tuan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nguyễn Viet came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Lai Chau's Lê Lam. But to his dismay, Lê Lam quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Nguyễn Loc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ngô Tu having to interfere. Nguyễn Loc struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Ngô Tu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cao Bang. 40 minutes into the match, Lai Chau's goalkeeper Ngô Tu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Trần Duy. Phạm Phu hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After 45 played minutes Lai Chau got a freekick which was hit by Huỳnh Dong. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Loc stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Trần Duc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cao Bang's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trần Duc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lê Van Quyen kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. In the 54th match minute, Cao Bang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Duy to maneuver through the defense. If Nguyễn Tuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Loc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Tuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Nguyễn Viet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phạm Hoang hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Lê Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Viet having to interfere. A collision led to Cao Bang getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Trần Huy hit a great ball. Ngô Tu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Duc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lê Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute of the match Hoàng Viet sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ngô Tu skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Lai Chau booed when Cao Bang was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phạm Phu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lai Chau's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
