Nguyễn Teo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lê Phuong, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Nguyễn Teo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Nguyễn Lan showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 8 minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Phu Ly's goal looked a bit too open when Lê Phuong came free, but Nguyễn Teo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Hoai in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Phong prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 35 played minutes Quang Ninh got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Nam. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Hoai in the 40th minute of play forced Quang Ninh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Phong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Phong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Võ Nam in the 46th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When Lê Phuong got free in front of the goal in the 57th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Nguyễn Teo was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Nguyễn Phong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Hoai, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Quang Ninh's zone, Nguyễn Tuyet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Phong came out of the goal and Nguyễn Tuyet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The long shot by Lương Pham in the 71st minute really tested Nguyễn Phong's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After a rather tough play, Quang Ninh's Nguyễn Nam got a free kick in the 73rd minute. The audience was convinced that Nguyễn Hoai's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Phong was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. The attack was good, but when Lê Phuong in the 92nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. If Nguyễn Hoai had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Quang Ninh had won after a very even match.
