Nguyễn Loc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Nguyễn Phong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Loc in the 8th minute of play forced Quang Ninh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Phong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Lê Phuong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Phong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Duc, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Lan got free with Nguyễn Viet in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Quang Ninh defense, Trần Duc kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nguyễn Phong. The Quang Ninh fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nguyễn Phong should have stopped the shot. Hồ Hong Minh kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Loc in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Phong prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 28 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Lan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nguyễn Viet. Nguyễn Lan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Quang Ninh's Nguyễn Lan got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 34 minutes into the game, Phan Phuoc was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Quang Ninh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cao Bang the free kick. After 34 played minutes Quang Ninh got a freekick which was hit by Phan Phuoc. Cao Bang's Nguyễn Loc got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Loc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nguyễn Phong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Trần Duc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Loc to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Duc got free with Nguyễn Phong in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Lan in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Viet saved Cao Bang from getting behind. 63 minutes into the match, Quang Ninh's Nguyễn Lan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Viet narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Phạm Phu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Nguyễn Phong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Nguyễn Lan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Quang Ninh's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Lan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Viet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 74th minute Lê Phuong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Viet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 81 minutes, Nguyễn Lan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quang Ninh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Lan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 81 played minutes Cao Bang got a freekick which was hit by Trần Duy. Nguyễn Lan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Viet having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Trần Duy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Lê Phuong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nguyễn Viet was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Cao Bang had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
