Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Trần Minh got the match started through his kick off. With a little luck, Son Tay's Nguyễn Thuy got control of the ball when Lý Van Quyen tried to sneak it across the goal line. 6 minutes into the match, Son Tay's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lý Van Quyen. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Tay Ninh:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Son Tay:s goal. The referee gave Son Tay a penalty, 12 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nguyễn Nhật Minh, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Tay Ninh's Chung Loc. 0-1. Nguyễn Loc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chung Loc having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Loc in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chung Loc saved Tay Ninh from getting behind. Nguyễn Cadeo charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Cadeo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 22 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Son Tay! When the match had been going on for 24 minutes, Tay Ninh's Lê Phu got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Nguyễn Thuy. After a defensive mix-up in Tay Ninh's zone, Nguyễn Loc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chung Loc came out of the goal and Nguyễn Loc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lê Thanh struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Chung Loc didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Son Tay. Nguyễn Thuy made a fantastic save in the 38th minute, when Lê Phu sent off a good shot on target. Nguyễn Loc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lê Thanh made a kick off. Son Tay's Nguyễn Loc got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nguyễn Loc came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Chung Loc could save by the left post. In the 56th minute, Son Tay's Nguyễn Loc dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Son Tay's Nguyễn Loc got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 64th minute, Lý Van Quyen made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Thuy. Son Tay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 69 minutes into the match, Son Tay's goal looked a bit too open when Lý Van Quyen came free, but Nguyễn Thuy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Minh in the 72nd minute of play forced Son Tay's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Thuy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Minh, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. After 78 minutes, Nguyễn Thanh mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Son Tay and the Tay Ninh players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Son Tay getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Nguyễn Thanh hit a great ball. Nguyễn Thuy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lý Van Quyen in the 80th minute of play. Lê Phu hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Lý Van Quyen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nguyễn Tuan hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Chung Loc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lê Thanh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
