Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nguyễn Liem started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Trần Chuong during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 5th minute there was a penalty for Can Tho. Trần Huynh Duc stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Văn Van Quyen. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Nguyễn Mai managed to get in a good position for a shot. Can Tho's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Mai was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Văn Van Quyen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Liem fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phạm Tong having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nguyễn Tho during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 27th match minute, Can Tho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nguyễn Tho to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute Nguyễn Duy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Văn Van Quyen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Nguyễn Duy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 34 minutes, Hoàng Chi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Can Tho and the Kon Tum players grew even worse after the yellow card. 33 minutes into the game, one of Can Tho:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Can Tho's Phạm Tong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Liem in the 39th minute of play. After 43 played minutes Can Tho got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Tho. Kon Tum's Lê Thien got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nguyễn Mai stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Trần Hoai's late challenge caught a Kon Tum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Trần Hoai helped the player get up and apologised. Lê Thien in the 57thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Phạm Tong, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The supporters of Can Tho booed when Kon Tum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Than didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nguyễn Duy blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Văn Van Quyen having to make a save. 71 minutes into the match, Can Tho's goalkeeper Phạm Tong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lê Thien. Nguyễn Liem received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Phạm Tong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Văn Van Quyen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Mai, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. If Lê Thien had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kon Tum's Văn Van Quyen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nguyễn Duy in the 85th minute of play. In the 92nd minute Nguyễn Duy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Văn Van Quyen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Phan Dung fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kon Tum's protests and gave Phan Dung a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Kon Tum getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Phan Dung hit a great ball. Nguyễn Mai received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Văn Van Quyen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Kon Tum players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Can Tho from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
