Trần Thuyet was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Lai Chau's Nguyễn Diem got a free kick in the 40th minute. Trần Thuyet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lưu Lan, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After 43 played minutes Lai Chau got a freekick which was hit by Dương Thanh Bình. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trần Tấn Dũng stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lưu Lan in the 53rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trần Thuyet saved Lai Chau from getting behind. Lưu Lan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Tinh blasted a shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Trần Thuyet having to make a save. After 70 played minutes Tuy Hoa got a freekick which was hit by Trần Loc. Trần Tấn Dũng struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Dương Tho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lai Chau. After 76 played minutes Lai Chau got a freekick which was hit by Đoàn Quang Thanh. If Nguyễn Tinh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Diem hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Lê Khoi hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Nguyễn Tinh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Trần Thuyet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nguyễn Tinh in the 95th minute. The supporters of Tuy Hoa booed when Lai Chau was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dương Thanh Bình didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Tuy Hoa walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
