In the 14th match minute, Da Nang was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trương Van Tai Em to maneuver through the defense. If Nguyễn Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 45 minutes of play, Vinh Long's Nguyễn Duc made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng was left in no man's land by his defense there!
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nguyễn Duc to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Ho in the 54th minute of play forced Vinh Long's goalkeeper Mai Minh Phượng to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trương Van Tai Em struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Mai Minh Phượng didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Da Nang. Da Nang's defense didn't have a chance, in the 62nd minute, when Nguyễn Duc scored to the left of an out of position Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, making the score, 0-3. 71 minutes into the game, Nghiêm Khoi recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nguyễn Tấn Dũng. Nghiêm Khoi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. When Trần Quang fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vinh Long's protests and gave Trần Quang a yellow card for diving instead. In the last second Nguyễn Tấn Dũng throw himself and got hold of the ball when Nguyễn Duc in the 80thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 80th minute, Nguyễn Hung hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, Da Nang's goalkeeper Nguyễn Tấn Dũng had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nghiêm Khoi. Mai Minh Phượng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Loc in the 86th minute of play. 95 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Phuoc was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vinh Long's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Da Nang the free kick. The Da Nang fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Vinh Long were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
