Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Nguyễn Thi started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Hoàng Tấn Dũng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Phạm Duy having to interfere. When Nguyễn Hoai fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gia Nghia's protests and gave Nguyễn Hoai a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute of the match, Hoàng Tấn Dũng got a very nice opportunity to score, but Phạm Duy was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Phạm Duy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Thi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hoàng Tấn Dũng struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Phạm Duy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dong Hung. 19 minutes into the match, Gia Nghia's goalkeeper Phạm Duy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hoàng Tấn Dũng. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nguyễn Cong Vinh during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 21 played minutes Gia Nghia got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Cong Vinh. After having played for 22 minutes, Hoàng Tấn Dũng managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dong Hung's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hoàng Tấn Dũng was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Thi in the 23rd minute of play forced Gia Nghia's goalkeeper Phạm Duy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Đinh Van Tai Em scored 1-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trịnh Dong, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 1-2 became the score in the 30th minute when Đinh Van Tai Em elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Đinh Van Tai Em received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Trịnh Dong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute Nguyễn Thi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Phạm Duy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 40th minute, Trần Liem made a precise shot to the right of Trịnh Dong. Dong Hung's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Phạm Duy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Thi in the 44th minute of play. Nguyễn Thi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Phạm Duy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trần Liem stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 53rd minute of the match Nguyễn Cong Vinh completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Nguyễn Cong Vinh a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Nguyễn Cong Vinh kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. In the 55th minute of the match Nguyễn Thi Ngoc shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Phạm Duy showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Phạm Duy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Thi in the 56th minute of play. Đỗ Hieu Ngan's late challenge caught a Gia Nghia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Đỗ Hieu Ngan helped the player get up and apologised. Đỗ Hieu Ngan hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Đinh Van Tai Em received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Trịnh Dong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phạm Duy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hoàng Tấn Dũng in the 83rd minute of the match. Đinh Van Tai Em recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Gia Nghia's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Thi came free, but Phạm Duy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hoàng Tấn Dũng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trịnh Dong made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Đinh Van Tai Em sent off a good shot on target. The Dong Hung supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Gia Nghia's performance. The match ended with a win for Gia Nghia.
