In the 14th minute Hoàng Hoang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Nguyet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lê Nguyet stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hoàng Hoang's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. A collision led to Gia Nghia getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Nguyễn Chuong hit a great ball. After 21 minutes, Nguyễn Thuyet made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Gia Nghia's Lê Nguyet tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Nguyễn Minh didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lê Nghiêm-Minh went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 30th match minute, Gia Nghia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lê Phuoc to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Hoàng Hoang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Man United's supporters rose to their feet, but Hoàng Hoang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Nguyet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Minh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tạ Phuong in the 36th minute of the match. Lê Nguyet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hoàng Hoang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Hoàng Hoang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gia Nghia's Lê Nghiêm-Minh got his second yellow card of the match in the 41st minute. The referee ordered Lê Nghiêm-Minh off the ground. A collision led to Gia Nghia getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Lê Nghiêm-Minh hit a great ball. Hoàng Hoang received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Lê Nguyet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Gia Nghia's zone, Nguyễn Thuyet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lê Nguyet came out of the goal and Nguyễn Thuyet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Nguyễn Thi put it in 2-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lê Nguyet. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Tạ Phuong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Nguyễn Minh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 57 played minutes Vũ Chuong rounded Man United's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-2. After some careless play in the Gia Nghia defense, Hoàng Hoang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lê Nguyet. The Gia Nghia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lê Nguyet should have stopped the shot. Lê Nguyet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Thuyet in the 68th minute of the match. Nguyễn Minh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tạ Phuong in the 69th minute. Nguyễn Thuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78th minute, Hoàng Hoang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hoàng Hoang in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lê Nguyet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hoàng Hoang blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lê Nguyet having to make a save. After 88 minutes of play Gia Nghia's Lê Phuoc was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 88th minute, Lê Phuoc hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nguyễn Thuyet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Nguyet having to interfere. The supporters of Man United booed when Gia Nghia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vũ Chuong didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Thuyet in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lê Nguyet saved Gia Nghia from getting behind. Đỗ Nga, 97 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The attack was good, but when Hoàng Hoang in the 99th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Man United were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gia Nghia for a fine match.
