Nguyễn Hoai took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nguyễn Quang Thanh. Nha Trang's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Lê Thuy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. In the 44th match minute, Việt Nam was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huỳnh Hieu to maneuver through the defense. Nha Trang's Nguyễn Minh Phượng shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 45th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Nguyễn Minh but with some difficulty. Phạm Ho charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phạm Ho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lê Thuy was the one to do the kick off.
