Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) After a rather tough play, Vinh Long's Trần Nguyet got a free kick in the 7th minute. Đoàn Hanh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Quang Thanh made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Huynh Duc in the 18th minute of play forced Vinh Long's goalkeeper Nguyễn Quang Thanh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Đoàn Hanh came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Phan Thiet fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đoàn Hanh couldn't finish the play. After having played for 21 minutes, Trần Huynh Duc managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Phan Thiet's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trần Huynh Duc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Nga in the 27th minute of play forced Phan Thiet's goalkeeper Lê Phong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vinh Long's Nguyễn Nga got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 35 minutes into the match, Phan Thiet's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Thien came free, but Lê Phong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lê Phong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Nga in the 43rd minute of play. Lê Phong came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Vinh Long's Nguyễn Thien. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Thien quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Đoàn Hanh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Vinh Long's Nguyễn Nga got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 53 played minutes Phan Thiet got a freekick which was hit by Đỗ Phuong. In the 55th minute, Nguyễn Nga fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Lê Phong, passed just outside the right post. In the 59th minute, Nguyễn Minh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Nga got free with Lê Phong in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nguyễn Quang Thanh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Đoàn Hanh, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Nguyễn Thien who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 65thth minute tested the skills of Lê Phong when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 68th minute, Nguyễn Minh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Trần Huynh Duc managed to get in a good position for a shot. Phan Thiet's supporters rose to their feet, but Trần Huynh Duc was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Quang Thanh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lê Phong showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nguyễn Thien, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. In the 79th minute Nguyễn Thien shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Phong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th match minute, Vinh Long was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Nguyet to maneuver through the defense.
