The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trần Thai showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Trần Nam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Lê Phong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 6 minutes into the game, Trần Nam recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lê Phong. Trần Nam showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Trần Thai took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đoàn Hanh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 11 minutes into the game, Phan Thiet's Trần Huynh Duc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trần Thai made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Nguyễn Hoang hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Trần Nam in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lê Phong prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 25 played minutes Phan Thiet got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Thanh Bình. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trần Nam in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Lê Phong saved Phan Thiet from getting behind. Trần Thai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Huynh Duc in the 28th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Hung got free with Lê Phong in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 37 minutes, Trần Tinh mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the MIAMI and the Phan Thiet players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th match minute, MIAMI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Tinh to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes into the game, Phan Thiet's Trần Huynh Duc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trần Thai made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Trần Thai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trần Huynh Duc in the 45th minute of play. If Trần Huynh Duc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Trần Huynh Duc made a kick off. Trần Nam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Phong having to interfere. In the 58th minute Nguyễn Tấn Dũng shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Phong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Trần Huynh Duc in the 63rd minute of play forced MIAMI's goalkeeper Trần Thai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lê Phong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Đoàn Hanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trần Huynh Duc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trần Thai having to interfere. MIAMI's Trần Tinh got his second yellow card of the match in the 92nd minute. The referee ordered Trần Tinh off the ground. The supporters of Phan Thiet booed when MIAMI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Tinh didn't get a good kick on the ball. 96 minutes into the match, MIAMI's goal looked a bit too open when Trần Huynh Duc came free, but Trần Thai reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
