After 7 minutes, Đặng Bien made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Việt Nam's Trần Hanh tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Nguyễn Minh struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Trần Mai didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Việt Nam. 14 minutes into the game, Đặng Bien cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Trần Hanh was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Rach Gia's Nguyễn Liem got a free kick in the 20th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Minh in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Trần Mai prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Đặng Bien could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Trần Hanh made a huge save. Đặng Bien scored 4-0 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trần Hanh, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Việt Nam's zone, Nguyễn Hoang stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trần Hanh came out of the goal and Nguyễn Hoang tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Việt Nam getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Lê Quang Thanh hit a great ball. In the 46thth minute of the game Võ Nguyet who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rach Gia's Trần Mai was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
After a rather tough play, Việt Nam's Nguyễn Thi got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Trần Hanh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Đặng Bien in the 53rd minute of the match. Trần Hanh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nguyễn Hoang's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Văn Duc kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Đặng Bien received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Trần Hanh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Rach Gia's zone, Võ Nguyet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Trần Mai came out of the goal and Võ Nguyet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 94th minute, Nguyễn Hoang left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rach Gia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Việt Nam's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
