After a rather tough play, Ho Chi Minh City's Lâm Pham got a free kick in the 27th minute. After 31 played minutes Võ Quang Thanh rounded Vinh Yen's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nguyễn Phu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Võ Quang Thanh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 84 played minutes Vinh Yen got a freekick which was hit by Trần Hong. Võ Quang Thanh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Phu having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lâm Pham during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ho Chi Minh City's Lâm Pham got a free kick in the 95th minute. Ho Chi Minh City were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Vinh Yen for a fine match.
