Trần Nghiêm-Minh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 minutes into the game, Huỳnh Bien was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. With a little luck, Dien Bien Phu's Trần Nghiêm-Minh got control of the ball when Nguyễn Lam tried to sneak it across the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Võ Quang Thanh was the one to do the kick off. Lâm Pham's late challenge caught a Dien Bien Phu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lâm Pham helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st match minute, Ho Chi Minh City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lâm Pham to maneuver through the defense. After 72 minutes, Trương Nam made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ho Chi Minh City's Đỗ Chung tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Nguyễn Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 78 played minutes Dien Bien Phu got a freekick which was hit by Vũ Than. Võ Quang Thanh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Ho Chi Minh City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nguyễn Lam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 2-1 became the score in the 84th minute when Võ Quang Thanh elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Trần Nghiêm-Minh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Võ Quang Thanh, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Ho Chi Minh City's Đỗ Chung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trương Nam in the 90th minute of play. Đỗ Chung made a fantastic save in the 98th minute, when Phạm Hoai sent off a good shot on target. When the referee ended the match the Ho Chi Minh City players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
