In the 4th minute, Ha Long's Lê Teo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Vũ Tong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Loc, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lê Teo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Phong having to interfere. In the 12th of the match, Lê Teo tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Lê Phong got in the way and made a wonderful save. The attack was good, but when Nguyễn Hung in the 14th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. 16 minutes into the game, Nguyễn Hung recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Lê Phong. Nguyễn Hung showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. 23 minutes into the match, Ha Long's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Quang came free, but Vũ Tong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dong Xoai's Lê Phong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Teo in the 24th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Nguyễn Quang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dong Xoai's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Quang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vũ Tong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Lê Teo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the game, Trần Thanh was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ha Long's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dong Xoai the free kick. In the 31st minute, Trần Thanh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vũ Tong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Quang, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lê Teo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Đặng Loc came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Dong Xoai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Đặng Loc couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute, Trần Thanh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 47 minutes into the match, Dong Xoai's goalkeeper Lê Phong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nguyễn Hung. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

In the 62nd match minute, Ha Long was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Thanh to maneuver through the defense. 64 minutes into the match, Ha Long's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Quang came free, but Vũ Tong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th match minute, Dong Xoai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lê Huynh Duc to maneuver through the defense. Nguyễn Hung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lê Teo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Lê Phong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the match, Ha Long's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Quang came free, but Vũ Tong reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ha Long players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
