Đặng Tu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Đinh Phuong stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Võ Minh's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Minh Phượng in the 15th minute of play forced Vinh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Trần Nghiêm-Minh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Đinh Phuong made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Đặng Nguyet during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Kontum getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Đặng Nguyet hit a great ball. Trần Nghiêm-Minh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đinh Phuong having to interfere. Nguyễn Thuy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Đặng Tu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 36 played minutes, Kontum's Lê Dung shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nguyễn Thuy came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Kontum reached it. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Nguyễn Minh Phượng managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kontum's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Minh Phượng was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Thuy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nguyễn Thuy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Minh Phượng in the 41st minute of play. The supporters of Kontum booed when Vinh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Trần Ho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Đặng Tu got in the 43rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Nguyễn Thuy handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The Vinh players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Kontum were winning 0-2.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Đặng Tu to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 52 minutes, Đặng Tu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kontum's supporters crossed their fingers, but Đặng Tu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Nguyễn Minh Phượng came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Kontum fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Minh Phượng couldn't finish the play. Đặng Tu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Thuy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Trần Nghiêm-Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Đinh Phuong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th play minute Nguyễn Minh Phượng came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nguyễn Thuy. 0-3. In the 72nd minute, Võ Minh made a precise shot to the right of Đinh Phuong. Kontum's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. 76 minutes into the match, Võ Minh notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Kontum's Đinh Phuong. Đinh Phuong was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 79th minute, Võ Minh ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Đinh Phuong was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3. Trần Nghiêm-Minh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Đinh Phuong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Vinh's Hoàng Nam got a free kick in the 95th minute. In the 95th minute, Vũ Hong Minh sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Vinh's Nguyễn Thuy didn't even have to move. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
