In the 8th minute of the match Phan Thiet got a corner. HO CHI MINH FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hoàng Duy ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Trần Duong got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Đặng Bay quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Trần Cuc hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. After 14th play minutes Nguyễn Huỳnh shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Đặng Bay and just under the crossbar into goal. If Phan Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 22nd match minute, Phan Thiet was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by La Hung to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nguyễn Tong in the 26th minute of play forced HO CHI MINH FC's goalkeeper Đặng Bay to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28thth minute of the game Nguyễn Tong who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but HO CHI MINH FC's Đặng Bay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 33rd minute, Nguyễn Huỳnh got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 41 minutes into the match, Phan Thiet's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hoang had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Phan Cuc. Phan Cuc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Huỳnh made a kick off. 63 minutes into the match, Nguyễn Huỳnh dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Đặng Bay, 0-3. If Nguyễn Tong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Phan Cuc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Nguyễn Hoang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mai Duy in the 72nd minute of play forced Phan Thiet's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hoang to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Phan Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Đặng Bay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Tong in the 79th minute of the match. If Nguyễn Huỳnh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phan Cuc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Nguyễn Hoang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Đặng Bay took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nguyễn Tong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Trần Cuc fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored HO CHI MINH FC's protests and gave Trần Cuc a yellow card for diving instead. In the 92nd match minute, HO CHI MINH FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Cuc to maneuver through the defense. Đặng Bay was a little too slow when Nguyễn Huỳnh got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 97th minute. The score was now 0-4. Phan Thiet's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
