During the 12th minute of the match Đặng Tho completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Đặng Tho a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 13th minute, Đặng Tho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trần Hoa hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Phan Cuc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dương Teo having to interfere. The HO CHI MINH FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Đặng Bay should have stopped the shot. If Phan Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
