PHI HUNG's Võ Lan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Minh-ha in the 7th minute of play. After 15 played minutes PHI HUNG got a freekick which was hit by Lê Huỳnh. The supporters of Son Tay booed when PHI HUNG was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vũ Tuan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Nguyễn Tấn Dũng left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Son Tay fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. PHI HUNG were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Son Tay's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vũ Tuan took the corner. Trần Thi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Lê Minh-ha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nguyễn Tinh charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Tinh the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nguyễn Tinh hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. In the 38th minute, Lê Minh-ha made a precise shot to the right of Võ Lan. PHI HUNG's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Võ Lan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Tấn Dũng in the 41st minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Đặng Huynh Duc stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes PHI HUNG got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Chuong. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Võ Lan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Đặng Huynh Duc in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vương Huynh Duc saved Son Tay from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in PHI HUNG's zone, Nguyễn Tấn Dũng stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Võ Lan came out of the goal and Nguyễn Tấn Dũng tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lê Minh-ha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Son Tay's Vương Huynh Duc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Đặng Huynh Duc in the 75th minute of play. Nguyễn Tinh got his second yellow card in the match during the 78th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 83rd minute, Lê Minh-ha ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Võ Lan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. The supporters of PHI HUNG booed when Son Tay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hoàng Viet didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nguyễn Tấn Dũng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute, Nguyễn Tấn Dũng ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Võ Lan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Son Tay eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
