Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Phùng Tuan got the match started through his kick off. Nghiêm Cadeo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Lê Phuong made a huge save. Nguyễn Duc's late challenge caught a Bắc Ninh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Duc helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Bắc Ninh booed when Lao Cai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Duc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ngô Binh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Nguyễn Loc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nguyễn Loc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Huỳnh Tấn Dũng, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 16th minute, Ngô Binh left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lao Cai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ngô Binh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nghiêm Cadeo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Lê Phuong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 21 minutes of play Lao Cai's Nguyễn Duc was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Lao Cai's Nguyễn Duc got a free kick in the 22nd minute. With his leg Lê Phuong managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when Bắc Ninh's Nghiêm Cadeo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Bắc Ninh's Trịnh Lien couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 27th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Lao Cai. Nghiêm Cadeo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Lê Phuong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bắc Ninh's Nguyễn Loc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Huỳnh Tấn Dũng in the 32nd minute of play. Nghiêm Cadeo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 38th minute, Phùng Tuan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Nghiêm Cadeo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng was the one to do the kick off. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Ngô Binh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lao Cai's supporters rose to their feet, but Ngô Binh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Loc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 60 minutes into the match, Bắc Ninh's goalkeeper Nguyễn Loc had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Huỳnh Tấn Dũng. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Huỳnh Tấn Dũng managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lao Cai's supporters rose to their feet, but Huỳnh Tấn Dũng was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Loc breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bắc Ninh's Nguyễn Loc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Bắc Ninh from getting a goal against them. Nghiêm Cadeo might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lê Phuong. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nghiêm Cadeo ran back to his position shaking his head. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Loc having to interfere. When Nghiêm Cadeo came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Bắc Ninh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nghiêm Cadeo couldn't finish the play. Huỳnh Tấn Dũng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 88 minutes into the match, Bắc Ninh's Nghiêm Cadeo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lê Phuong narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 89 minutes into the game, Phùng Tuan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bắc Ninh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lao Cai the free kick. A collision led to Bắc Ninh getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Phùng Tuan hit a great ball. With a little luck, Bắc Ninh's Nguyễn Loc got control of the ball when Huỳnh Tấn Dũng tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Bắc Ninh booed when Lao Cai was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ngô Binh didn't get a good kick on the ball.
