If Nguyễn Lam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trịnh Cuc came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Long Tan's Nguyễn Lam. But to his dismay, Nguyễn Lam quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 19th minute, Dương Tinh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Trịnh Cuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Tu in the 20th minute of the match. Nguyễn Lam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Trịnh Cuc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Teo in the 24th minute of play forced The Son's goalkeeper Trịnh Cuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lê Dinh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lê Teo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Trịnh Cuc having to interfere. 30 minutes into the game, Phan Hoa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Son's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Long Tan the free kick. The supporters of Long Tan booed when The Son was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phan Hoa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Son's Trịnh Cuc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lê Teo in the 32nd minute of play. Long Tan's Nguyễn Lam got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 35 played minutes The Son got a freekick which was hit by Trần Thien. After a rather tough play, The Son's Đỗ Nghiêm-Minh got a free kick in the 38th minute. Lê Teo scored 0-3 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Trịnh Cuc, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half Long Tan were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lê Dinh to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Lam in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Trịnh Cuc saved The Son from getting behind. Nguyễn Loc charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nguyễn Loc the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 57 minutes into the match, Phạm Ritchell had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh. Long Tan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Phạm Ritchell was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Lê Dinh managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Son's supporters rose to their feet, but Lê Dinh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Long Tan's Nguyễn Loc got his second yellow card of the match in the 64th minute. The referee ordered Nguyễn Loc off the ground. After a rather tough play, Long Tan's Nguyễn Loc got a free kick in the 64th minute. Lê Dinh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh having to interfere. 74 minutes into the match, Lê Teo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Trịnh Cuc. Lê Dinh took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh. Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nguyễn Lam got free with Trịnh Cuc in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 87 played minutes The Son got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Hieu. A collision led to Long Tan getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Trần Hong Minh hit a great ball. If Lê Teo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
