Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lê Dinh started the match with the kick off. Trịnh Cuc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Hong in the 16th minute of the match. When Phạm Ritchell came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the The Son fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phạm Ritchell couldn't finish the play. After 26 played minutes Cao Lanh got a freekick which was hit by Hoàng Nghiêm-Minh. If Nguyễn Hong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, The Son's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Hong came free, but Trịnh Cuc reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Phan Hoa's late challenge caught a Cao Lanh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Phan Hoa helped the player get up and apologised. After 84 played minutes The Son got a freekick which was hit by Phan Hoa. Nguyễn Tuyet sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 98thth minute of the game Lê Dinh who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cao Lanh's Liễu Quang was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. The Son walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
