Dong Son's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Son Tay the free kick. Nguyễn Van Tai Em struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Vương Huynh Duc didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dong Son. If Bùi Viet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Trần Loc received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vương Huynh Duc came out and tried to block the shot, but Trần Loc slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 13th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Lê Minh-ha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Son Tay's supporters rose to their feet, but Lê Minh-ha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nguyễn Anh Hung breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Dong Son's Nguyễn Van Tai Em got a free kick in the 18th minute. 20 minutes into the game, Son Tay's Lê Minh-ha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nguyễn Anh Hung made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Bùi Viet received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Vương Huynh Duc tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Son Tay's Vương Huynh Duc proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Son Tay from getting a goal against them. Bùi Viet's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Vương Huynh Duc firmly grabbed it by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Trần Loc in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vương Huynh Duc saved Son Tay from getting behind. Nguyễn Van Tai Em fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vương Huynh Duc having to interfere.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to strike the kick off in the second half. Lê Minh-ha who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 62ndth minute tested the skills of Nguyễn Anh Hung when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Dong Son's Nguyễn Van Tai Em got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Lê Minh-ha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Nguyễn Anh Hung made a huge save. After 64 played minutes Son Tay got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Viet. Dong Son's Nguyễn Anh Hung proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Dong Son from getting a goal against them. Nguyễn Tấn Dũng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Nguyễn Anh Hung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Dong Son booed when Son Tay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Quang didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute, Phạm Nam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nguyễn Tấn Dũng in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nguyễn Anh Hung saved Dong Son from getting behind. In the 81st minute, Son Tay's Nguyễn Tấn Dũng dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lê Minh-ha got free with Nguyễn Anh Hung in the 94th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Son Tay eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
