An unexpectedly hard shot by Phùng Tuan in the 5th minute of play forced Phuoc Tich's goalkeeper Nguyễn Pham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nguyễn Pham stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Phùng Tuan's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. Huỳnh Phu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Loc having to interfere. 15 minutes into the game, Phuoc Tich's Huỳnh Phu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nguyễn Loc made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Hoàng Phuc might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nguyễn Loc. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hoàng Phuc ran back to his position shaking his head. Nguyễn Loc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Huỳnh Phu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nghiêm Cadeo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Loc came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Phuoc Tich's Hoàng Phuc. But to his dismay, Hoàng Phuc quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Nghiêm Cadeo scored 1-2 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nguyễn Pham, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 43rd minute Phùng Tuan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Pham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, Bắc Ninh's Phùng Tuan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nguyễn Pham. Nguyễn Pham yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Hoàng Phuc stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Phuoc Tich's Hoàng Phuc got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Phùng Tuan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nghiêm Cadeo came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Bắc Ninh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nghiêm Cadeo couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute, Nguyễn Thi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute of the match, Hoàng Phuc tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nguyễn Loc saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 85th match minute, Phuoc Tich was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hoàng Phuc to maneuver through the defense. 86 minutes into the game, Mai Hung was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bắc Ninh's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phuoc Tich the free kick. Phuoc Tich's Nguyễn Pham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nghiêm Cadeo in the 90th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Bắc Ninh had played much better football throughout.
