Nguyễn Hoa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nguyễn Cuc in the 13th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lê Duc got free with Lê Dung in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 21st minute, one of Ho Chi Minh City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ho Chi Minh City. The referee gave Ba Ria a penalty, 22 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Phạm Tong, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ho Chi Minh City's Nguyễn Hoa. 0-1. In the 25th minute Nguyễn Cuc shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nguyễn Hoa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 29 played minutes, Ba Ria's Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Nguyễn Hoa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ba Ria reached it. Chung Hung sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nguyễn Cuc fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nguyễn Hoa having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Ho Chi Minh City's goal looked a bit too open when Nguyễn Cuc came free, but Nguyễn Hoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ho Chi Minh City's zone, Chung Hung stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nguyễn Hoa came out of the goal and Chung Hung tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 37 played minutes Ba Ria got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Nghiêm-Minh. In the 41st minute Bùi Lien shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lê Dung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ba Ria's Lê Dung played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bùi Lien in the 46th minute of play. Lê Duc was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 47th minute. Ho Chi Minh City's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nguyễn Cuc to strike the kick off in the second half. Lê Dung showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bùi Lien, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Lê Dung showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Duc in the 61st minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Ho Chi Minh City's goalkeeper Nguyễn Hoa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chung Hung. The supporters of Ba Ria booed when Ho Chi Minh City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Phuc didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nguyễn Cuc had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Cuc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nguyễn Hoa having to make a save. If Chung Hung had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lý Hung recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th match minute, Ho Chi Minh City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phùng Hoai to maneuver through the defense. Lê Duc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Lê Dung tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Ba Ria getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Lý Hung hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Duc in the 92nd minute of play forced Ba Ria's goalkeeper Lê Dung to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chung Hung got free with Nguyễn Hoa in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
