Trần Phong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lý Nga in the 17th minute of the match. Lý Nga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Nguyễn Quang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thai Binh's supporters rose to their feet, but Nguyễn Quang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Trần Phong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Nguyễn Chuong came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the MANCHESTER UNITED fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nguyễn Chuong couldn't finish the play. 32 minutes into the game, MANCHESTER UNITED's Nguyễn Chuong nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Trần Phong came out of the goal and Lý Nga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nguyễn Tho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lê Tho in the 41st minute of the match. 42 minutes into the game, one of Thai Binh:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 44th minute there was a penalty for MANCHESTER UNITED. Phạm Cong Vinh stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nguyễn Tho. 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
