In the 34th minute, Trần Tuan Hoang left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yen Bai fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After having played for 38 minutes, Liễu Lien managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yen Bai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Liễu Lien was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lê Loc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nguyễn Cadeo made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Phạm Thanh managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tuy Hoa's supporters rose to their feet, but Phạm Thanh was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lê Hieu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lê Hieu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nguyễn Cadeo in the 53rd minute of play. With a little luck, Tuy Hoa's Triệu Quang Thanh got control of the ball when Liễu Lien tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phạm Thanh in the 58th minute of play forced Yen Bai's goalkeeper Lê Hieu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Tuy Hoa's goalkeeper Triệu Quang Thanh had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Liễu Lien. In the 85th match minute, Tuy Hoa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Trần Duong to maneuver through the defense. Triệu Quang Thanh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Trần Tuan Hoang, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After a rather tough play, Tuy Hoa's Trần Tong got a free kick in the 90th minute. When Trần Tuan Hoang came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Yen Bai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trần Tuan Hoang couldn't finish the play. Triệu Quang Thanh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lê Loc in the 93rd minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
