Nguyễn Hoa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phan Thanh Bình in the 7th minute of play. Nguyễn Hoa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phan Thanh Bình, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Nghiêm Thuy charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nghiêm Thuy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nghiêm Thuy kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. In the 47th minute of the match Nguyễn Hung sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tạ Anh Hung skillfully saved the ball. The Ho Chi Minh City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lao Bao were winning 0-1.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Phan Thanh Bình to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Lao Bao's Phan Thanh Bình slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nguyễn Hoa. That made the score 1-2 after 77 minutes of play. After a rather tough play, Lao Bao's Đinh Cong Vinh got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 83rd minute, Trần Hoang left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Lao Bao fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. If Bùi Lien had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Lao Bao walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
