Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Huỳnh Tấn Dũng made the kick off which started today's match. Trần Van Quyen struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Lê Tran didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Viet Nam. Trần Van Quyen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lê Tran having to interfere. Nguyễn Hong took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Huỳnh Tấn Dũng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Phạm Chi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lê Tran was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. The supporters of Dien Bien Phu booed when Viet Nam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 35 minutes into the game, Viet Nam's Lê Huy nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lê Tran made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nguyễn Dung during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 39 minutes into the game, Phạm Chi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Lê Tran was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lê Tran didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Trần Van Quyen went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Phạm Chi made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Trần Van Quyen got free with Lê Tran in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 61st minute, Đặng Chung made a precise shot to the right of Nguyễn Hong. Viet Nam's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Lê Tran made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trần Van Quyen in the 66th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Huỳnh Tấn Dũng had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nguyễn Hong. Viet Nam's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Huỳnh Tấn Dũng was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Nguyễn Hong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Huỳnh Tấn Dũng in the 75th minute of the match. After 75 played minutes Viet Nam got a freekick which was hit by Nguyễn Bien. After a rather tough play, Dien Bien Phu's Lê Phuc got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Trần Van Quyen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 played minutes Dien Bien Phu got a freekick which was hit by Lê Phuc. When Trần Van Quyen came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Viet Nam fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trần Van Quyen couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute of the match, Phạm Chi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Lê Tran saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Dien Bien Phu's Lê Tran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trần Van Quyen in the 96th minute of play. The Viet Nam players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
